Why You Should Never Abandon Your Pet

Pets are among the most loyal and faithful members of your family that you'll ever have. Feed a pet once and you've won their everlasting friendship and loyalty for life, which is something you just cannot say for so many selfish human beings. A pet is not a toy which you can use and discard when you get bored with it or when it suits your convenience – pets are living things; sentient beings with feelings, emotions, fears, joys and sorrows. Pets have souls just like us – according to the theory of reincarnation and transmigration of souls; all of us were plants and animals in a previous existence – to be born as a human being is considered to be the highest form of evolution, a rare, once in a millenia opportunity to do the right thing, and not to be wasted or frittered away.

You cannot abandon a living being, a member of your own family, one who implicitly loves and trusts you, on the streets, thinking it will fend for itself – these things just don't happen. Pets CANNOT fend for themselves on the streets – they will starve without food or water, get attacked by other street dogs who have very strong territorial instincts, get stoned by urchins who consider it a sport to throw stones at pets, fall ill with gastro-enteritis, diarrhea, fever, tick-fever or dengue... If at all, by some amazing miracle, your pet does manage to survive all of these, he or she, will, most likely, get run over by traffic, hit by a carelessly driven or speeding vehicle, killed or maimed for life. Then, once crippled, your pet will have to drag itself around, howling and whimpering in agony, in search of food and water – in his or her pitiable condition, it will be very lucky if it can find any – OR it will just crawl into a hole and die.

I'm sure that very few humans are so heartless as to wish such a terrible fate for their own children – YES, your own child. You see, a pet once adopted, becomes a member of your own family; just the same as your own son or daughter. Just as you would never think of abandoning your own son or daughter for the sake of a new home, a different city, or a new job, you must never think of abandoning your loyal and faithful pet – your very own son or daughter – for temporal gains. Your pet will never abandon you for the same trivial reasons, it will stay with you through thick and thin; go with you to the ends of the earth; be with you in sickness and in heath, stick with you when everyone else has abandoned you, for better or for worse, whatever your economic circumstances or social standing. You pet will comfort you when you grieve, never allow you to be depressed, romp with you in your moments of joy, lick you all over to show its love, and guard your home from intruders and thieves. It is ready to lay down its very life to protect you, in your service; of you, for you and by you...

You should never think of condemning your pet to a horrifically cruel life on the cold, unfriendly and savage streets, without food, water and medical care, injured and crippled, wracked with the pain of unnamed multiple injuries, gastroenteritis and other sicknesses and disease. I'm sure that you, as a loving and true human being, would never dream of committing this ghastly act. It's just that you tragically and completely wrongly assume that your pet will be "all right" on the street – Nothing could be disastrously further from the truth...

I'm sure that all those who commit the inhuman act of abandonment are unaware of the consequences of Karma, which unequivocally states that all suffering is due to Sin carried out in this or previous births. . To put it simply, what goes around comes around; as you sow, so shall you reap.  Sin, to state it bluntly, is an act of evil deliberately carried out, for which the perpetrator is going to pay whether he likes it or not, whether he is religious or not, whether he believes in God or not.. Moreover, Sin separates us from the love of God, and drives away His favour from us, without which it is impossible for us to prosper or succeed in life.

Abandonment, my friend, is a singular beastly, inhuman act and a major sin. Those who abandon their pets are not only condemning them to a horrific, brutal life on the streets, but are also condemning themselves to the consequent punishment, and their souls to hellfire...no short-term benefit sought by the act of abandonment will ever thrive; on the contrary, it will logically wither away and die.

So whatever the temporary costs, my friend, DON'T ABANDON YOUR PET – after all, you're all they have and will ever have.  Do the right thing and watch the benefits accrue to you over the years, as a natural consequence of the good karma you will reap!

Lovely Read... I love my baby 'maya.' She is the best that happened to me :) Animals are the purest souls... And the one that will ever be...It is really bad to see dogs hits by vehicles. If one can be cautious enough to prevent human accidents, i don't understand why one can't feel the same with pets. The recent case, in bangalore: a lady who buried 6 puppies, after poisoning them, was the worst extent humans beings have come to. I really wonder where these human were educated? Let's hope people become more sensitive towards life.

Really nice blog. Sometimes pets can even be more faithful than humans. I don't really understand why are there people who can hurt, make fun of, torture, or abandon animals ending up in an orange county animal shelter. And sometimes, no matter how many times you've hurt your pet, it will always come back to you with love and expecting to be loved back.
