Are You Ready To Meet Your Civic Destiny?

If you objectify other people – see them as a means to an end, rather than an end in themselves, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you do not understand you are a role model, at the very least, to the immediate people in your personal and professional life - your family, your relatives, and the people you work with - then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are prepared to allow only so much time, and no more, for your vision to be realized, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you care only about your image, your needs, your survival, and your victories, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If your dominant thought is – “every man, woman and child for themselves”, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If fairness, justice, and dignity do not mean anything to you, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you have double standards about what you will accept, and what you expect others to accept, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you turn a blind eye to exploitation, or abuse, by the strong of the weak, and the rich of the poor, and the knowledgeable of the innocent, and the able of the disabled, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are prepared to pursue justice or truth, only if it is convenient, and expedient, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If wealth, fame, glory, and power are what drive your actions, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are afraid to say and do what you believe is right, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you don’t have a servant heart, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If inclusiveness is not part of your agenda, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are not self-reflective and humble about your mistakes or weaknesses, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you only care about ends, and not means to ends, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are not willing to stay the course, month after month, year after year, decade after decade, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you care only about the legal, and not the moral underpinnings of your actions, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are easily intimidated, discouraged, or disenchanted, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are cynical, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are focused on externals, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are an organization man (or woman) first, and a community man (or woman) second, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you cannot respond with grace, when you are hit in one of your vulnerable spots, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

If you are not prepared to accept responsibility, and face the consequences, for everything you have said and done, then you are not ready to meet your civic destiny.

Prepare yourself to meet your civic destiny.

Don’t let nationality, caste, creed, race, gender, age, or anything else stop you.

Answer the call to create a better world.

Need pluck?

Look to the civic-minded greats who have walked before you.

Let how they spoke, talked, acted, and how they made their decisions, be your guide.

You need look no further for courage, guidance, or inspiration.

As always, thanks for sharing my Journey to Wisdom, Meaning and a Better Life, and have a great day and week….M ……a Pearl Seeker like you.  Thanks to Ajay and David for their compliments on my last post, and thanks to the rest of you for your likes, pins, shares, tweets and votes…..much appreciated.

The present day scenario in Bangalore regarding the construction of a steel flyover reminds me of Ajay Sachdev's Post Oh! Bangalore!-Part 1 and II and my spontaneous comments about them.

Minoo,I am for the growth of the city but being convinced by the politicians to be mute and withdrawn.Any venture regarding the development has culminated in the courtroom drama.

We are a system with ill- informed, involved and disorganized heads.

Your post emphasizes that 'In a true Democracy common people are considered the primary source of political voice and power'and encourages one to take the courage to meet the civil destiny.

is a link to a song from the movie Dor,with relevant lyrics

Even if the path is filled with difficulties,
We still have to walk on it
Even if the evening hides the sun of happiness,
The night of grief will definitely pass away
This season of grief will change.
Determination will overcome all difficulties.
There will be a new dawn
