Motivation Beyond Money

Some of this week's creations from our Family WhatsApp

There's a motivation beyond money

It's a motivation to create

The artist stands at her easel

And contemplates the colors on her plate.

__

The musician holds his banjo

And lets his fingers run over the strings

The pleasure of the harmonious sounds he produces

Is beyond anything money can bring.

__

The writer's fingers fly on the keyboard

Words glide through her fingers one by one

Time flies and she soon has an article, a poem, or a chapter

And a feeling of satisfaction bar none.

__

The photographer holds up her camera

To take a pic of people, trees, flowers, birds, or the first light of morn.

She looks at her handiwork

And has a sweet taste of satisfaction at the memory she has born.

__

The cook lovingly works on whatever he is making

Determined that it turns out first rate

He keeps tinkering with the heat, the moisture, the timing, and the ingredients

His joy - watching someone relish the food he puts on their plate.

__

The gardener lovingly prunes

Hoes, mixes, mulches, and plants

The sight of her plants, flowers, and trees

Never fails to make her spirits dance.

__

None of it has anything to do with money

Money is not the be all and end all

When it comes to many things

Money just has no place at all.

__

There's a motivation beyond money

It's a motivation to create

It elevates our sense of spirit and agency

And puts us in a blissful, transcendent state.

__

When I wrote these words, dear reader

Your hobbies and passions came to mind

And I also thought about my brother David

Because he created all the time.

__

Yes, there's a motivation beyond money

It's a motivation to create

We should do it as much as we can

Because it will keep us in a blissful, transcendent state.

__

Dear Reader,

It is part of the human experience to enjoy activities that put us in a blissful, transcendent state. The activities that put me in a transcendent blissful state are meditation, going to church, blogging, walking, and conversations with friends and people who make me think.  What activities put you in a transcendent blissful state? Wish life gives you the opportunity to be in a blissful, transcendent state as much as possible. Great things come from the choices we make.  That's why Gandhi spun.
