2011First Girls Golf Team at Santa Teresa High School, and yeah, Tanita’s on it!

P.S. They say behind every great man stands a woman.  Behind the Santa Teresa (Saints) Girls Golf Team is a man - Coach Yellum, seen at top left in the picture. The Saints Girls Golf Team owes its existence to his persistence.  It took Mr. Yellum 6 years to get approval to create the team and he already has them off and away participating in tournaments. Thank you, Mr.Yellum. When Mr. Yellum is not coaching the Saints Boys Golf Team and Saints Girls Golf Team, he is an English teacher at Santa Teresa High.

P.S. 2: My post “How To Become More Unique”, which you can read here contains many “SHE” victories, primarily of my former copywriting pals.

P.S. 3: The picture of the team was sent to me by Ruth Garcia, another proud mum of a golfer on the Saints Girls Golf Team.  Thanks, Ruth! The other young man in the picture is Jordan Falconio, assistant coach and classmate of Tanita's.

P.S. 4: What are your favorite “SHE” victories - personal or global? Also, what can we do to increase "SHE" victories?

P.S. 5: Writing about Isabelle Peron made me think of Alyque Padamsee’s fantastic production of “ Evita” back in the 80’s.  Remember that?

P.S. 6: The pink used for the subheads in this post is my way of paying homage to several different things, including the character played by Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde, the Pink Panty Protest in India, and on a more serious note, Breast Cancer Awareness.

P.S. 6: This post should have been published on August 26, which is Woman's Equality Day.

P.S. 7: For organizations that want to get involved in making the world a better place for women, here's a link to Catalyst, a 50 year old organization started by a visionary named Felice N Schwartz.

I congratulate and wish Tanita and the team 'All The Best!'
There are quite a few women who are SHE VICTORIES.Among them Late Professor C.N.Mangala,Principal NMKRV college for women.
She established SHASHWATHI-a women's museum at the NMKRV college Bangalore.
She translated 'All My Sons' a noted English play under her pen name Chi.Na. Mangala, to Kannada and was responsible for the staging of the same for public at Ravindra Kalakshetra by 'Nataranga' an amateur theatre group in Bangalore.[The play was staged for the first time for only simpathising members of literary elites by "Ravi Kalavidaru" one of the leading amateur theatre groups.]
In an obituary note, a kannada NEWS daily quoted her as "Chatuvatikeya Chilumey"(a fountain of activities.)

Hi Minoo,

I have been visiting your blog at regular intervals. Thanks for the inspiring posts.

A fortnight ago I read something sad about the Museum SHASHWATHI {I had mentioned in "The She Victories" comments 6 years ago.} Felt that I should share it with you.

Here is an abridged version of the same:

Museum for crafts by women may close down, from lack of interest

Shashwati Museum which has several artefacts dedicated to craft by women, was established in 1973 by CN Mangala at the NMKRV college Bangalore, will be shut due to lack of footfall.
says Snehalata Nadiger, principal of NMKRV college.

She adds, “For the past 30 years, we have had only one visitor a month. The public don't seem to be interested.”

There was also no support from the government.

“We notified the Department of Tourism about the issue and requested them to provide some funds for maintenance but they didn’t pay any heed. The management of the institution spends lakhs to restore the artefacts.”

The space will be now used to conduct a law course, she says adding, “But, we are not going to dismantle everything. Only one part of the museum will be used for the course.”...

How ironic it is Minoo,
Shashwati means eternal but it is going to be closed.

Change is an always-to-be-expected condition said a Greek Philosopher.
How true!

Aarathi.
